Prices vary a lot, so you can find tents that cost less than $50 or more than $500. Even on our list, there are tents that cost more than $400. But you don’t need to spend so much on a tent if you don’t want to. There are plenty of good camping tents that have affordable prices.
The weight of your camping tent is important especially if you’ll need to carry it around a lot. You don’t want to hurt your back by putting too much weight on. So, look out for camping tents that aren’t too heavy.
As you’ll see, tents have different heights, and you need to keep this in mind while shopping. Do you want to be able to stand up and move around? Or is it ok to have one that is a bit lower?
If you’re very tall or you just want to have more room to move freely, you should get a higher tent. Usually, the ones that have vertical walls are higher. But they are also more difficult to set up.
A lower tent is easier to set up and hold better in windy conditions. But, you’d have to sacrifice comfort.
The size capacity of your tent is very important since you need one that can comfortably accommodate all your guests.
So, how many people will be sleeping in your tent? If for example, you’re looking for a tent for 4 people, pick one that can accommodate 5 or 6.
Manufacturers usually overestimate how many can sleep comfortably inside a tent. Also, it’s better to have extra room for your belongings.
Another option could be that of buying multiple tents, particularly if you’re traveling with children or teenagers. They will be really happy to have their own tent!
Different tents have different setup difficulties. Some of them are super easy to set up, while others require a bit more time.
It is really up to you to decide how comfortable you are in setting up a tent and choose one that meets your needs. A trick you could use is setting up your tent at home to practice. So, when you go on a trip, you already know how to set it up.
A three-season tent is ideal for spring, summer, and fall use. But if you want to use them during winter, you could buy a sleeping bag and a pad.
As an alternative, you could choose a four-season tent which is well suited for all seasons. Four-season tents are also ideal for windy areas since they’re sturdy.
If you travel mostly during summer, choose a tent that has many windows and vents to allow air circulation.
Ventilation is very important to avoid condensation and to allow fresh air to circulate. You don’t want to stay in a moldy tent or an overheated one.
Look out for roof vents that you can open from the inside. They allow air circulation and help with keeping the temperature down during summer.
Vestibules are particularly useful if you go camping when it rains. You don’t want to bring your muddy gear inside the tent. So, a vestibule is perfect to leave your shoes or any other item outside the tent’s main space.
These are the best camping tents we chose for you:
Eureka! Copper Canyon LX
The Eureka Copper Canyon LX is the first on our best camping tents list. It is available for 6, 8, or 12 persons. It is one of our favorites for quality, space, and durability.
This is a three-season camping tent but if you buy a pad and sleeping bag you could use it in winter too. It is easy to set up and offers a full standing height.
It measures 10 feet by 10 feet and it’s 7 feet tall. You can therefore stand and move freely inside this tent. When you pack it, it becomes 9” x 28” inches so it is easy to carry.
It has large mesh windows with waterproof curtains, so it offers great ventilation. The fly coverage over the door offers a dry entryway.
Finally, it has high pockets and a gear loft where you can keep your essentials. And it has a e-port for access to power inside the tent.
Coleman Sundome Tent
This is a much different tent compared to the Eureka! one. It is of course much smaller since it’s only for two people. But it also has a different shape.
It has one room, and it measures 5 by 7 feet. The height is only 48 inches so you can’t stand inside. But it has enough room to move around.
It has large windows and ground vents that allow enough ventilation and keeps it cool. Despite being small-ish it has storage pockets inside for your small items.
It also has an e-port for access to electrical power.
Coleman Elite Montana Tent
The Coleman Montana tent is available in three colors and it can accommodate up to 8 people. We would suggest it for 6 people if you want to be more comfortable.
It measures 16 x 7 feet and has a 6-foot 2-inch center height. The side rooms’ height is shorter, but you still have enough space to move around.
It has a quick setup and includes a carry bag. We usually practice setting up at home first to understand how each tent works.
The Coleman Montana has angled windows that you can keep open even when it rains to allow air circulation. It is also very sturdy and tolerates well the wind.
Finally, just as our previous options, it has storage pockets to store your small items.
Marmot Limestone Camping Tent
The Marmot Limestone is a 4-person tent that measures 59.7-square-foot. It has two large doors/vestibules and a mesh ceiling for airflow.
The tent’s dimensions are 23.62 x 15.75 x 15.75 inches. You can’t stand inside, but there is still enough room to move.
The Marmot Limestone comes with a seam-taped polyester fly that offers rain protection. With the fly on, there is less ventilation, but if you’re camping during spring or autumn it isn’t a problem.
It has an overhead vestibule that allows you to store your items.
Kelty Wireless – Freestanding Camping Tent
The Kelty Wireless Freestanding camping tent is available for 2, 4, or 6 people. The 2P tent for example measures 86 x 49 inches and has a peak height of 43 inches.

It is waterproof and windproof, making it suitable even for rainy weather. The airflow is provided by four mesh windows and one large mesh door.
The setup is pretty easy. The company claims that you can set it up in 5 minutes. We think that the first time, it takes longer, but after a while, you can absolutely install it in 5 min.
